HRRH recommends we use it on returning home.  You will need it.

You bet. I was using innulin fibre ( pysillium fibre is not recommended for wls patients because it binds). Anyway, I used my pysillium and it helps a little but mom works best to get things going. Now I use my pysillium daily to keep me going til I get my fibre intake better.

Milk of Magnesia works for people with mild constipation.

For hard-core people like me, it did nothing.

I found I had to use stool softeners (eg. Colace) at least twice a week initially (Greek joghurt acts like cement, BTW).

I also found that fibre tended to create bulk so I ended up with HUGE stools.

Lactulose would not be my choice - turns out it can induce dumping, as it is made up of double the amount of sugar you would normally ingest.
