Anyone have really weird, vivid dreams right after surgery? Some of mine are about food, eating things I shouldn't, some are really vivid nightmares. Maybe it's my brain working through this huge life change?

haven't had surgery yet but am on day 6 of opti and spent last night (from what I remember) dreaming of food.  Not things like desserts and baked goods but I dreamt of chicken, steak, veggies..... very weird!

I wasn't eating any of the food however.  You must be so relieved when you wake up

lol, yes SO relieved when I wake up! They feel so real while I'm dreaming, I can actually taste what I'm eating! The food dreams started on Opti for me too, although I was the same - dreaming of normal foods a lot. I had a lot of dreams about rotisserie chickens for some reason, lol ;) Must have been craving the protein. Good luck in the rest of your Opti phase!!

Are you still taking pain meds?  My mom had a bad work accident awhile back, she kept having horrible nightmares.  It turned out to be the pain meds she was taking (Percocet I think).

I have been on Percocet, but I'm two nights free of it now and still having the dreams. Maybe it started with the drugs and my brain is just continuing the dreaming on it's own now. Weird!

I guess it must be the drugs! I haven't had any for two nights now but I was taking them before bed so I wouldn't wake up 50 times a night with pain. But even two nights free of drugs, the dreams continue! Oh well, guess it will calm down eventually :)

I am still having really vivid dreams and for me that is strange since the only other time that i actually woke up knowing I'd dreamt or still remembering a dream was when I was pregnant.  Maybe we are just sleeping better :)

I think maybe it is partly to do with the life change, and hormonal/physical changes. Just like when you're pregnant! I wish I was sleeping better - missing those solid 8 hour Percocet sleeps lol
