Grits

Wondering if anybody from Ontario has eaten grits or made inquiries about eating grits during pureed or soft food stages?   I was thinking of some "american" foods that my folks could bring back for me from Florida when they return for Christmas, and I was wondering about instant grits, especially instant cheese grits.  Grits are a corn product, but sort of like cream of wheat when prepared.  Any thoughts?

hey Emjaye, i had that same question because I went across the border a couple weeks ago to get healthy products for the pureed stage and bought a canister of grits but when i got home and read the nutrition facts it was high in carbohydrates there is 32g of carbs 4g of fiber and 150 calories for a 1/4 cup so not sure if it would give dumping syndrome or not but would love to hear what other people say..

What's the sugar? That's what I'd be watching for as well as the carbs, as too much sugar will be what makes you dump I think. I have found too many carbs just creates more cravings and then it's a constant mind battle! 32 g for 1/4 cup seems awfully high to me but maybe someone else will weigh in.

Seems like a lot of carbs with no nutritional value. You would definitely need to add protein powder to it
