That means you'll only be 7 months from start to finish - I don't think that's a long time at all.

Believe me when I tell you this: USE THIS TIME. Take advantage of it. You'll thank yourself later.

It's not long at all. My orientation was in April and I don't have my surgeons appointment till Dec 6. Considering the wait times in other areas and provinces, I'm very impressed with TWH and the whole Bariatric program. kiss

I was the same way.  I seemed to fly through the initial process in only a couple of months.  I met with Dr Aarts (same hospital as Dr Cyriac) at the beginning of July and just had surgery last week (Nov 19th).  It was a long wait but it did do me some good to sit back and take it all in since the initial process had been very fast.

The bad part of that is the wait was so long I did forget a lot of what had been talked about at the beginning.  My husband is also considering surgery and I went with him to Orientation the week before my surgery which worked out great so I could ask a few last minute questions.  Also, TWH had changed some of their guidelines between my orientation (April) and my husband's (November) so that was good information to have.

Everyone's right, seven months is pretty good. And maybe less time than the average? There were a batch of people who got through HRRH and TWH really fast this summer/fall (myself being one of them) but I think we were the anomaly, not the norm. And I know of at least two people who got through in about 4 months who are having serious issues with not following the rules now, lots of time in hospital, and I really believe it because they didn't have enough time to really process the changes and commit themselves to doing things by the book. Take this wait and use it to your advantage, start practicing the eating habits you'll need for after surgery. I know it's frustrating when you just want to get the surgery over with so you can start losing weight - even with my speed racing through the process I was still crazy impatient. But it really is a long game! :)

Referral May 2013 / orientation at TWH June 27 / nurse practitioner July 3 / social worker August 19 / nutrition class August 26 / nutritionist August 30 / psychologist September 3 / meet surgeon (Dr. Penner) September 20 / PATTS October 10 / Surgery October 18 2013!

The waiting is sooo annoying but what can you do? Try to keep busy by researching and preparing for your surgery.  I think 7 months is faster than most so keep that in mind.  Glad to hear you are moving along so nicely :0)
