I still have sleep apnea

I'm back from the doctor and the results of the latest sleep study -- my sleep apnea is still there, when I sleep on my back.  His words were "deadly".

My on my side numbers were excellent, and I took him the numbers from my CPAP machine -- he was delighted with them.   We'll re-evaluate in a year;  with hard work I should be down another 50 pounds.

Since I'm going to be on this for another year, I'm going to get a new face gear, nose pillows, and replace the electrically-taped hose with a new one.  Merry Christmas to me.  :)

I do like my machine, and was highly motivated to use it.  I sleep better with the machine than I had in years.   It's been three years and I don't mind keeping it, after all, it's all in the aid of good health.

Cheers!   mmm

Thanks, Julie -- the machine makes such a difference in my sleep quality and my daytime alertness.  Oh, yeah, and I'm not going to die in my sleep, either.  :)

Just shy of 14 years here and counting.  Mine never completely resolved. I'd sooner have a good sleep any day.

I completely agree, Tracey -- I sleep so well with the machine.   If it's a forever thing, I really don't mind.

That's a winning mind set!

Did you have to do the same test you did before you had the machine? Did you sleep with the machine at all?

Hoping you will lose it eventually though - I know I will continue to use mine if need be. I don't mind it that much at all!

My sleep test was booked for seven months post-op, and it was without my machine.  I really felt the lack of it, that night, so I've been kind of worried how I'd do if the test results said the apnea was resolved.

All is good.  I'd much rather sleep well and wake rested and ready for the day.

Funny you say that...we had a power failure one night and I struggled to sleep without it too!

I also find that if I get congested due to a cold, I really appreciate the humidified air.

Oooh, I just noticed how close you are getting to surgery -- congratulations!
