Hey group - just looking for some wisdom regarding NSAIDS. I was told last night that we should not take NSAIDS for a few months before surgery. I trust my source, but I wasn't told that. For my "post op / post NSAID" friends - what advice were you given?

I took them up until about a week before my surgery and then stopped. After your surgery (RNY) we are no longer able to take NSAIDs as they may cause ulcers. That is why many people try to choose the Sleeve as they can continue to take them.

Any surgery I have ever had, I was asked to stop them 1 to 2 weeks prior to surgery as they thin the blood.  I can't see why anyone would have to stop months in advance.

I take Celebrex. Dr. Glazier told me to stop them a week before surgery.

Dr Glazor told me to stop my NSAIDS one week before my surgery.

The anesthesiologist during PRATTS reminded me when she was reviewing the file.
