So it was confirmed today that I have a stricture. It's what has been causing all the pain swallowing. I don't have an appointment with the surgeon yet to see what options are available. Argh I just can't catch a break with this operation yet. Oh well better days ahead .

While I'm sorry to hear you have a stricture, I'm glad you finally know what is causing all that pain. I hope you get some options. Now that they know what it is, they can move on to getting it FIXED for you. Good luck!! I hope they have a solution for you soon.

They use an endoscopy scope with a balloon on the end and stretch the opening back up normally.  My mom has this done and is not a WLS patient but still gets strictures and that is how they fix them.  Easy peasy and done with a bit of sedation and you go home within a few hours.

They don't know if a balloon is an option because it is where I had the leak. They are not sure if the area is strong enough to handle the pressure of the balloon without tearing causing another leak.

Oh that is not so good.  Hopefully whatever they have to do can be as quick and easy as the balloon as it is really an easy recovery for that one.

Well that makes sense, doesn't it. Here's hoping they can fix you up quickly.

Take care,
