Hotel / After care etc. immediately after surgery

Good morning - Happy Friday!

I am a good 2 hours north of Toronto, so I understand staying at a hotel after surgery will likely be required after the initial hospital stay.  Here's the dilemma.  I don't really have family that can come stay with me, and my friends will likely be working.  Anyone had this issue before?  Will the hospital keep you an extra night if you're on your own?

Thanks - just trying to consider all the possibilities.  

The hospital will release you as soon as your stable which is usually a day after surgery. They also won't do the surgery if you don't have a few days booked at a nearby hotel and they don't let you leave alone.

You are honestly going yo make these arrangements or they won't book your date. You gave time now, don't panic, I am sure you can work out a plan.

I'm an hour and half from Toronto and went home right after. I would book a hotel for 2 nights but see how you are doing. You may feel good like I did and just go home. You can cancel up till 6pm that day. Maybe you only need one night. Hopefully that is the case because being home in your own bed is the best thing ever.  Good luck. 

I'm from Barrie and was not required to stay in a hotel, but they did keep me an extra night even though I had no complications. I would call your center to be sure. I had surgery at TWH, by the way.
