Menopausal ladies-I need some help

I have been having night sweats and hot flashes for awhile and they haven't been bad until lately.

I think I may need to try to take something to help with them.  At 4 this morning, I ended up just getting up and workout on.

Help...what do you use and what is safe or not safe to take post surgery.?

TIA

Hi Tia:

I have been on the Climera patch (transdermal) for a number of years since my hysterectomy (almost 10 years). I was told by the RN during my visit with her that this medication is safe to use both pre-op and post op. You may want to speak to your family doctor about this?

Thank You!  Had you ever tried Black Kohosh?  Or anything herbal?

Yes, I tried the herbal stuff but I have found it to be ineffective for me.

Hi,

I had my hysterectomy due to stage 1 ovarian cancer 11 years ago. So glad to be cancer free but got instant menopause! I don't do well with patches as my skin is moist and they always fall off. My gyno prescribed Estrogel 0.06%. It is so simple as it comes in a pump that just squirts a little blob of gel that I rub into my arm. It absorbs there and dries in minutes. It has helped me get back my balance. No more night sweats or hot flashes and added benefit of increased libido.

talk to your doctor about it. It has worked for me. Good luck!

So Estrolgel is safe after our WLS?

Yes Estrogel is safe post bariatric surgery. It is not ingested through the mouth. It is not an NSAID. It is not an anti-inflammatory. It is a topical gel for treatment of estrogen deficiency associated with menopausal symptoms. It is only obtained via prescription from your doctor.

I've been using it for about 5 years now. I am 4 years post op RNY. Talk to your doctor about it.
