Insurance Question

Hello ,

Just a quick question on if anyone on here has there plastic surgery's approved , like Tummy Tuck ? I just had my revision from lap band to  RNY done on 10/11/11 , and a c-section before that ... so my tummy has taken a toll.. and wanted to know if you can get approved by insurance due to weight loss for a Tummy Tuck ... My breast reduction will be done because it was approved before surgery due to the back /neck pain ... But really want my tummy done , and a little inner thigh... Any info would be great ! Thanks

Some people do get it approved. You'll need to check with your insurance company. It varies greatly from company to company.

I had an extended tummy tuck done 3 months ago and I have BCBS and they covered everything except 800.00.  I had to have documents from my primary doctor stating that I had yeast infections/rash caused from the ugly hanging skin, and that the creams were not working.

You would need to read your policy. I checked Cigna's and they specifically state weight loss surgery alone is not a reason for panni removal. They will only cover it (don't remember the specifics) if you have documented skin rash issues over a certain period of time and your skin hangs several inches below your pubic area. There's also a couple of other criteria. They make it very difficult if you can meet those they will pay. I wasn't able to meet them and paid out of pocket.
