TOM and Surgery Date

How have you and your surgeon handled your time of the month starting the day of surgery.  How did this affect your surgery?  I thought my surgery would be before my TOM but it looks like they are both coming the same day.  Anyone else had this happen?

i'm trying to plan mine with my nuvaring so that i don't have it then, or at least minimize the chances of it. i figure i can always skip the period week and put a new ring in too if need be, but i think i'll be okay and have it the week before surgery with the schedule i'm on

I thought mine was going to be fine but my cycle changed last month and came 5 days early so it has throw my schedule to the wind.  If it stays on course, I should start day of.  Ugh!!!

Mine was due around my surgery date (I had thigh lift, arm lift, and breast reduction) and it ended up coming the next day, while I was still in the hospital. At first the nurses thought my thigh incisions were bleeding, and I said no, I think that's my period. Sure enough, I was right. The hospital had pads and special mesh underwear that went comfortably around the drains and bandages, and then when my family visited I asked them to bring me tampons. It was really no problem.

I hope mine does not start until the day after.  I will be home then.

I was thrilled when I had my period 2 weeks before my TT and Brachioplasty.  Then low and behold, I had it again 2 days after my surgery.  Sometimes that can happen.  I have had friends who have just let the OR staff know they are on their TOM and it is not a problem.

Believe me being on your period will not gross out anyone who had worked in or anywhere near an O.R.

I could tell you stories!!!!!
