Breast Augmentation at My Age?

So my breasts were the last to go, but boy they sure went.  I'm using a silicone "falsie" in my bras so my clothes fit okay.  Am I crazy to think about augmentation at age 61?  Should I worry about them having to be replaced/removed at some point (looks like the statistics are 20% in 10 years)?

I don't think you are crazy. Do what will make you happy. I went with the lift only because I did not want anything artificial in my body (I am 50). I am happy with my boobs up where they belong and my boyfriend loves them, too (even though his opinion really did not matter to me). I am not sure if implants would need to be replaced. Maybe, but I think they last longer now than in the past.

Good luck with your decision!!

I wasn't interested in implants, but before i even told my surgeon, he recommended against them.  His reason - at my age (I was 55 at the time) and having been overweight for so long, my skin was too damaged to properly hold an implant in place.  His opinion was that the extra weight of the implant would just cause the lift to fall that much faster.  But everyone's skin condition is different.  Ask you surgeon.  Ask how large an implant he thinks your body will handle, and recognize that it's all a crap shoot on how your body reacts to the implant.

Have you had a consult with a PS, yet?   I was 59 when I had mine, and I chose to do breast lift with fat transfer. rather than implants.  I did not want to have another operation in 10-15 years.  I am very happy I did it.  I am 5'3" and  was never very big on top, so my perky B's are all I wanted.  My clothes fit great (esp since the fat was harvested from my saddlebag thighs.)

Hmmm - interesting information!  I am already scheduled for a TT and facelift in January. The breasts have just gotten very small since I lost even more weight since my consultation.  Unfortunately I don't think I have enough fat to transfer (weird to me but likely true).  I don't like the idea of something fake inside either (never wanted a Lap-band even when they seemed like a good idea because of that). Was just thinking if I was having work done and this made sense I'd do it at the same time.

Let a dr determine if you have enough left.  I laughed so hard, because when I went in for a consult, the doctor said the same thing to me - that he wasn't sure I had enough left.  I looked at him like he was crazy because I had always had very sturdy things and saddlebags.  So he bends down and squishes what was left of my saddlebags between his hands and says, "You're good - there is enough left."

Hi Liz -

I know you answered my question about the cost of the TT but now I realize that I should have asked who did it and where. I grew up in N. Reading MA.

Thanks in advance. You look amazing.

It kinda depends on what you have left. I would have been a barely A after a breast lift without the implants. I didn't get big ones, probably will be a C cup once all settles!

I thought you did implants.  I am probably between an A and B with skin factored in.  I don't want much - the inserts I'm using are one cup size but help a lot.

Just did my first bra shopping since BL/BA and I am a D cup. I'm still settling though so that may not be my end size!
