So I finally bucked up and went in for my first treatment last month.. 2 weeks after my surgery. Some area's stung alittle more than I expected but it wasnt bad at all and I am a wimp! Anyways.. my next appointment is Feb 27th and they told me I might have to have 6-8 treatments.. the hair on my chin is very dense and thick. I could have easily passed as a man had I let it grow a week.

Anyways.. after just ONE treatment, the difference is amazing!! I used to have to shave every day.. sometimes 2x a day if I was going out at night.. NOW... I dont even have to shave every 2nd day. Can you believe that? Only one treatment!  Most of it hasnt grown back.. Ive had maybe 20 hairs come through.. out a whole beard and mustache area that used to be so thick.

I seriously recommend this proceedure to any of you with facial hair.. it is sooooooooooo worth the money.

I have a beard that I shave daily. If you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost per session? Since this is a medical condition, is the dermatologist willing to do it using insurance?

I pay $150 per session. Every place varies.. some more some less.

This is not a medical condition and insurance will not cover it. Its a cosmetic proceedure.. and although facial hair on women isnt very pretty, it doesnt harm our health. Also.. its only a symptom of PCOS, not the condition itself. Hope that makes sense, but my point is that is wont be covered by any insurance.

My gastric surgeon took me off of Spironolactone.  I had taken it for like 3 years... and it does take quite a long time to see a difference... like 6 months or more.  Anyway, I had 6 laser sessions, things were going great. Then my hair starts spurting out all over, growing fast, and I knew I had to get back on the Spironolactone. I am also going to get back on Vaniqa hair cream to help slow down the hair growth until the Spironolactone takes affect.  I sure wish I would have never stopped the medicine... now I go back on Tuesday for my laser hair treatment... touchups for $35.  Originally it was a 5 session package for $580 - they were running a special - - and one free touchup.  It was a special for 20% off and I will continue getting that anytime I need to go back... thank God because I think I will need it for about 5 more times!  oh jeesh I wish I hadn't gone off that Spironolactone.

I am not on anything.. I was on Gluc. for a couple of months but I didnt feel it was doing anything for me so I quit and havent been on anything for the PCOS for atleast a year now... not even Birth control to regulate me. I do have very thick facial hair though.. all over, so I guess Im just lucky that the sessions are working for me.

Honestly it makes me mad that insurance, not even my flexible spending account, will pay for laser hair removal.  This hair is caused by a medical condition, and the effects it has on a person's psychological well being... its awful.  I think it should be covered by insurance.

I've been having laser hair treatments on and off for 4 years.  I did my initial 8 treatments in 2002 - but some of my hair grew back - not alot and nohting compared to what I had but a few spurted back up. I did 3 more this year and that has really made a difference....I'm still spurting a bit so I'll have to do a few more treatments but the difference in my facial hair is night and day! Well worth the money!!!!

About 2 years ago I did 8 treatments over the course of about 10 months. It worked very well for me but I feel like I'm now back in the same place I started. I wish at the time I had known a little more about PCOS and it's effects. I'm hoping after getting the Lap Band and losing some weight, it will stop/slow down the growth of NEW hair. Then I will resume treatments.  Have you guys found after weight lose the hair growth slowed down? I don't want to waste another $1400!!

I cannot believe how much the price differs!! I'm so getting mine done in CA when I go home for a visit. They charge $250 for your lower face and upper neck... period... $250 includes all follow ups forever! My friend had her entire body (except brows and head hair) for 3K... Everything else gone forever! I'd call around to all laser treatment places... even if it's an hour or two away, if they do the package deal it'd be worth the drive every so often!
