I am 5 months out from my gastric sleeve surgery and there is a possibility I might be pregnant. Looking for feedback on how you all did with the pregnancy and your weight after the baby was born.

Thanks!

Hi there. I got pregnant post op of about a year from the VSG. I had lost 80lbs and was about 10-20lbs to goal. (was looking for more of a pant size goal then just a weight goal) I haven't had the baby yet so I can't help about weight after the baby. I did gain 30-35lbs (depends on the day and the swelling.) I can eat alot more than I could prepreg.

Haven't had any WLS related complications.. hmm i guess you might count my gallbladder stones as one. Had an attack at 7 months preggers. Gonna do surgery after I have the baby. The only thing extra OB wise is my request to add more labs to check my vit levels and my specialist wanted U/S every 4-6 wks to check baby's growth.

Hope that helps!

i knew a girl on here who got pregnant about 6 months out of sleeve surgery and everything went fine. its not ideal, but i think you'll be ok. just make sure you get checked out regularly.

i'm about 8 months out and once i hit my 1yr mark i really wanna start trying. i'm dying to get pregnant. i've lost 85lbs and i'm hoping to lose more. but i don't want to wait past the 1yr mark. i know my surgeon will try to discourage this since they say to wait 1.5 to 2yrs after to get pregnant. but i  think a year is ok.

i have a friend who got pregnant after losing 100lbs (i think with gastric bypass) she says she gained 30lbs during pregnancy and lost it pretty fast after the baby. the first 20lbs were mostly water weight and the last 10 didn't come off too long after that.

My surgeon said it was fine after 3 months w/ the sleeve and even had a patient that was unknowingly pregnant when the surgery was performed and the baby was perfectly fine. We were planning on starting to try when I hit my 3 month mark, but I have decided to hold off a little due to a change in our financial situation and I just don't feel like I can eat enough right now. Things will be great for you! I pray you have the outcome you desire.

I had surgery in August, and I'm 14 weeks pregnant.  So, I got pregnant just after 6 months out.  The pregnancy so far has been very uneventful (in a good way).  My OB is not worried about my sleeve causing any complications and my surgeons office has been really supportive as well.  My weight loss had slowed to a crawl (I was about 5 lbs from a normal BMI) and my 6 month labs all looked great.  I felt that I could easily up my calories if I needed to so my hubby and I decided to leave the rest up to God... about a minute later I was pregnant, lol.  I've gained about 2-3 lbs so far so I'm right on track with where I should be at this point.  I can eat anything and take all my vitamins, so nutrition has not been a concern.  The biggest thing is to make sure that you're eating carbs to keep your body out of ketosis and to make sure you're taking all of your vitamins!  Good luck, keep us posted!

I had surgery in June 2010 and got prego in September... I was 190 when I got prego and am 156 give or take now.. I have held my weight pretty stedy since Janurary.  My OB isn't concerned at all..  The pregnancy has been pretty good other than I am just now (34 wks) starting to feel really uncomfortable with normal pregnancy issues...

After being 8 weeks post op from the Gastric Sleeve I found out I was pregnant.  Has anyone had any problems trying to get extra calories in.  I am struggling to get in the nutrition in and fighting nausea.

how many calories do you intake per day being pregnant? how many were you intaking before...
i'm comfortable around 6-800cal a day now, my NUT wants me at 1200 and then up to 1700 a day during pregnancy ....I know i'm very early out still (3months) but I'm not sure how i could get that many in during the day....
just wanting to see what the "real world" pregnant post sleeves are doing lol
