Does anyone know what kind of revisions Dr Hornbostel does?  Specifically, if he does RNY to DS?

I don't even know that he does the DS at all. There are only a handful of surgeons that have the skill to do a RNY to DS revision and I don't believe he is one of them. Check out dsfacts.com for a list of DS surgeons. You might also want to post this on the DS forum for more info about RNY to DS surgeons.

From what I understand the surgeons that do the RNY to DS revision deal with a lot of out of state patients and are able to do a lot to accomodate them.  You may be able to have a phone consult and have your tests run locally.  If you go to the DS board there are quite a few revisions that have traveled and I am sure they would be able to answer all your questions.

I have the same questions Megan as well. I live in mass and the surgeons for a DS for me are far as well, would like to know if you are traveling how many times you hv to travel to see the surgeon?

Can I ask why you are thinking of the DS as opposed to the stomaphyx?

You surgeon will recommend a RNY revision because that is what he does.  He won't recommend a revision to a procedure he doesn't perform, that wouldn't make him any money.  I would just be concerned with your problems that keeping the same surgery will not help your issues and may make them worse.  If you are vomitting with a RNY pouch why would it make sense to keep the pouch, perhaps make it smaller?  It seems to me that the pouch is the reason you are vomitting.

The stomaphyx is a waste of time and money.  No one that I have heard of has ever lost any weight with it and kept if off any length of time.  The only revision that it seems would help you is having a sleeve made instead of a pouch, with or without the DS.  You need to find a surgeon that can do that kind of revision in order to get a honest appraisal of what is best for you.  Unfortunately there aren't a lot of surgeons that can do that revision due to it's complexity but unless you want to continue with the same problems you are already having it's your best bet.
