I had my original surgery 12/04 and now I need the revision surgery because my stoma is too big and I am not losing weight. My problem now is getting my insurance company to approve this surgery. I have ghi and was wondering if their is anyone out here who had the revision surgery who has ghi. Can you give me some pointers on what they are looking for to approve the revision surgery. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank! Yvette

Hi Yvette, My surgeon at Brigham & Women's addressed this issue with me. He said that if the stoma turned out to be too large that there is a gatroenterologist at the hospital that has a scope with something like a sowing machine attachment to it and they could go in and stitch it smaller during an endoscopy procedure. Have you heard of this? Maybe it would be worth looking into. Good luck. Kris
