HI,

I just got a portion of my Blood labs back from my Annual with my PCP.  He wanted a draw for his records which he then would forward to my Surgeon.  Most of the results looked good except for the ALK PHOS which came back high and they had me come back for a re-draw today.  I'm wonder if anyone can tell me anything about this Liver Enzyme test.  I've all so included my results with ranges incase for any feed back.  There are two low test but I have no idea what those pertain to.

Again this is an incomplete list as the rest of the test were "sent out".

Those enzymes are supposed to remain in your liver where they are happy, but when they pass into your blood stream it can indicate muscle damage or liver damage.  Your number is still within the "normal range" that they post so I wouldn't worry too much about it until they re-test.  (Here's my disclaimer, lol, I am not a doctor, but studied this somewhat in school)

Darn.  I totally should have 2x checked my trascription, espeically for that line.  The HIgh part of the range was actually 114 so I'm about 20u/L higher than I should be.

I wonder then if there was actual damage why the ALT and AST aren't higher.  I was diagnosed with Fatty liver over a decade ago and I've also had my Gallbladder out around the same time.

Suppose it's a waiting game till the next batch of results comes back.

Thanks

An elevated alk phos is more indicative of pancreatitis rather than a problem with the liver. If the Alk Phos was redrawn, the amylase should also be checked.
