need snacking ideas

Lesson here...continual grazing is a concern but healthy planned snacks are not.  Our primary goal - PROTEIN FIRST.  That said I eat 3 meals a day and 2 - 3 planned snacks.  I find I do better if I eat at the same times each day.  I have breakfast at 7 am, AM Snack 10 am, Lunch 12 pm, Afternoon Snack 3 pm, Dinner 6 pm, Late Snack (sometimes) 8 pm.  

I like to pair cheese and fruit for a snack.  So I often have a light baby bel or string cheese with a cutie, apple slices, berries or small banana.  Snacks will be smaller when your not as far out though.  I had 2 inches of banana or 4-5 berries and 1/2 a string cheese when I was earlier out.  I also always have one of my two protein shakes as a 3pm snack.  Enjoy!

Here is my FAVE easy snack (you can make a batch of chips in advance and have them handy for the week too!): 

Preheat oven to 425.  Take a low carb/high fiber/high protein tortilla or wrap (i.e., Joseph's Lavash Wraps, Flatout Wraps, Mama Lupe's Tortillas, etc.).  Bru**** lightly with olive oil and sprinkle a little pepper, garlic salt and italian seasonings on it.  With a pizza cutter, slice the tortilla into triangle shaped "chips."  Place on foil-lined cookie sheet.  Bake for 6-9 minutes (depending on your oven).  My entire family loves these chips and actually prefers them now.  The seasoning options are endless too (BBQ seasoning is delish for something different!).

Now, take 1/4 cup 0% Greek Yogurt and place in a small bowl.  Sprinkle fresh ground pepper, a dash of salt and dry dill weed (I like a lot) and stir.  BEST dip ever!!

This is a protein packed, low-fat, low-calorie, high-fiber, low-carb snack.  ALL of the elements you are looking for in a healthy snack alternative that will keep you satiated until your next planned meal.


Edited to add:  Hummus is delicious with these chips too and another great option!
