Low cholesterol???
I just had my 6 week check up and all of my labs looked good. The only thing the surgeon mentioned with concern was my cholesterol. Said it was low. He seemed a little concerned for a second but then he moved on and we never spoke about it again. I have always always ALWAYS had high cholesterol. So I'm pretty excited that it's low (both the good and the bad) but I'm a little concerned. Are there effects of having low cholesterol? I can't remember my numbers off hand but was just curious... how low is TOO LOW????
I just googled your question....Yes, a low cholesterol CAN be harmful. Can increase your risk of a hemmorhagic brain stroke as low cholesterol can interfere with clotting especially in the brain, and can hinder the action of seratonin in your brain(think mood stabilizer), and increase your risk for anxiety and depression. It would be an excellent question to ask your PCP/NUT to see what you can do to normalize your levels nutritionally post op.
