So, I did the quick math today and I've already had 890 calories and I still have dinner and 1 shake to do.  Am I eating way too much?

i'm close to a year out and usually have between 800 and 1000, over 100g protein, 30 or less net carbs.

Do you have a plan?  Are you following it?  We were not to count calories, just fluid and protein.  My calories just show up when I am logging my food.  I use the one on this website.

That sounds like a lot to me personally. I'd say you def need to be under 1000 a day per my plan anyway.

What have you eaten today? Maybe we can help you figure out if something needs to change in that respect.

Each plan is so different.  In my plan you would be totally fine, as they want us eating 1000-1300 calories daily. I rarely hit this - I hover somewhere around 500-800.  How has your weight loss been? Do you exercise?  I think if you are exercising and seeing the weight come off, I would think it should be fine.

My Nut would say that what you are eating is as important as how much. I average between 600 and 800 calories per day. Honestly I'm closer to 800 most days and could go as high as 1000 once per week.

What are you eating and how has your weight loss been?

well if you have lost 103 lbs in less than 5 months I say whatever you are doing is working just fine!!!! I had surgery the same time as you and I was told 800 calories until my 6 month appt then I think it increases to 1000... which I can't imagine eating.. right now I have 350 calories left for the day and I've already had all the food I plan to eat.. soooo I guess I won't make the 800 goal today! I might have a click in a bit so that will add a little.. typically I can get to 800 but I'm having tummy issues today.  You're doing awesome btw!!!

  • These are the rules I follow:
  • *3-6 Months After Surgery: I ate 600-700 calories a day
  • *6-9 Months After Surgery: I ate 800-900 calories a day
  • *9-12 Months After Surgery: I ate 1000 calories a day
  • *12-18 Months After Surgery: eat 1200 calories a day (ate 1200 calories a day until 15 months when I reached my goal weight)
  • *18 Months after surgery (or when goal weight is reached before 18 months): Maintenance calories (BMR & Activity Level) (Malabsorption of calories lasts approximately 18 months) (I now eat 1550 calories a day since 16 months and my activity level is Sedentary) (My Activity Level is Sedentary because I do not do a formal exercise program due to Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis)

What is so strange is that I am losing on average about 3 pounds a week.  I was 216 last Monday and then 212 today.  Yesterday, I ate the following:

B - greek yogurt with blueberries and a bit of kaski go lean (20g pro)

S - half a protein bar (15g pro)

L - mozzerella, tomato and basil salad, with a few pita crackers

S - half a isopure yogurt smoothie (16 g pro)

D- baked tilapila (ate too fast and that came up)

Dinner Again - 2 crackers, a few grapes and 2 slices of brie

S - 100 cal protein shake (24g pro)

(problem was that I was snacking on pita chips or kaski)

I do some kind of exercise everyday.  I walked for 30 min yesterday but I'm a dancer and in 1 week I've taken 5 dance classes (1 was Zumba).  I think that I'm burning a ton of cals.  I'm getting the protein and all my fluids.  I do need to track but some people say just track protein, carbs and fat.

But I've lost 107 pounds in 5 months.  I can't tell you how much energy I have.  I have always been athletic even at 300 pounds (took dance with people half my weight or less).  I have also not hit a plateau.  I was even on vacation in Europe for 5 week and still lost 3.11 pounds a week.

My fear is that this is going to end soon and I need to be prepared with more control over the amount of snacks that fall in my mouth.  :)
