My 10 Year Anniversary!
I had my10 yrs anniversary yesterday since having my RNY. I was 44 when I had my surgery, and I would do it over and over again every year if I had to in order to feel this good. I have energy, I can bend over, I can run after my grandson, I feel 40, act 30 and am so grateful for this surgery every day. I still follow the rules most of the time, I haven't gained enough to be worried about - a pound or two here and there isn't a biggie when you've lost over 100. I eat well, am unbelievably active, have made so many post op friends over th years and I have not had any complications. I hike , I bike I kayak and canoe, I white water raft, mountain bike, walk all over on vacations, I walk my dog and she's the one panting when we get back home. I ride my Harley, I
meet amazing people all over in my travels. I eat out (frequently), I find what I can eat, what I want to eat or what works for me wherever I go. I still have WOW moments and can't imagine not having had this life saving surgery. My acid reflux is gone, no knee pain (ACLreplacement the year before my wls), I can run circles around people half my age, I work 2 jobs - sometimes 3
and am amazed at the energy I have. I look at each day as a gift, and am so happy I had this done. Life is good and mostly because of wls. It gave me my life back. My only regret? That I
only have 50 more years to try new stuff, I need more time - there's so much to see and do!
For you newbies - this is an amazing ride- hang on and enjoy it! Life is sweet, make each day
count.

Congratulations to you! What a wonderful life you now have. I'm only 20 months out but am so much more alive and active. I agree with everything you said. You're an inspiration and I love hearing about long term successes. Love your attitude!
Thanks for sharing.

What an inspiration.
At 22 mos out I'm having a realization and your post proves it.
Previously - I didn't like to exercise. It was TOO HARD lugging around all that extra weight - not to mention embarrasing, etc. I had some concerns that the dislike of exercise would make regain inevitable. Also, I get a little anxious when people talk about their workouts - and the balancing of crazy workout schedules so that they can eat more.
Well, exercising does increase appetite. But what I find is - I LOVE the outdoors, I love riding my bike, I love taking photos of nature, I really enjoy walking (even liked that when I was big) - and I find myself LOOKING for new ways to enjoy myself outdoors. The only way it is related to food is that I need fuel to stay so active. It is NOT about I need to be so active so that I can eat.
Congrats again. I'm almost 59. What do you think we'll be posting about when we're 90????
