7 days post op help
Hi
I am 7 days post op. I am still having significant pain on my left side it was almost gone on day 5 out. I wear my binder faithfully and still cant get comfortable to sleep. Any suggestions? Secondly full liquids I have yet to find a real clear answer on this. Is there a web site that clearly gives examples or help with mixing it up? Currently I eat cream of wheat, non fat yogurt and non fat pudding., and carnation sugar free instant breakfast. What soups?, can I make smoothies or something else to mix it up and make sure I get my protein? I do add non fat dry milk to the cream of wheat..
Thanks for taking the time
Dina

Try sleeping with a pillow propped underneath you. That might help with the pain. I did that for about a month after surgery. There's one main incision that takes a while to heal because they cut through the muscle/wall.
Have a food processor handy. It'll open a world for you at this stage:

Have a food processor handy. It'll open a world for you at this stage:
- Skim or 1% milk
- “No Sugar Added" Carnation Instant Breakfast made with skim milk
- Blenderized soups (make with skim milk instead of water)
- Blenderized fruit added to shakes made with skim milk and light/nonfat yogurt
- Blenderized meat added to blenderized cream soups or mashed potatoes
- Cooked cereal thinned with skim milk (oatmeal, grits, Cream of Wheat)
- Thin blenderized casseroles
- Blenderized beans (black, pintos, lima, kidney, lima, northern, butter, lentils)
- Unsweetened applesauce with non-fat dry milk powder
- Fat-free refried beans with melted fat-free/reduced fat cheese
- Mashed potatoes made with skim milk
- Blended sugar-free yogurt
- Cottage cheese (fat-free/low fat)

You really should be eating Sugar Free Yogurt and Pudding, as opposed to fat free. But that doesn't answer your question. Full liquids is anything that is liquid, such as soup, protien shakes, or smothies, and low sugar yogurt counts. I didn't do soups when I was full liquids but others have said they had cream of chicken soup. I would avoid anything acidic like tomato soup. You can also have clear broth and diet gelatin.
I hope this helps.
