I am 2 weeks post op, and am experiencing muscle cramps all of a sudden. They are mainly in my calf muscles, and in my sides, some in my ribs. Anyone else have this problem?????

These muscle cramps are usually due to low potassium and low calcium.  When I used to get them
I would take a Calcium Citrate dose (entire days at once) and eat a banana, along with the 4 oz of
water used to wash down the calcium.  It took about 20 minutes and the cramps would go away.

It really sux getting awakened in the middle of the night with those darned things.

Good luck!

You can buy potassium suppliments but you have to take a handful.  If you are eating, you can use lite salt because it is basically potassium.  Some calcuim has magnesium with it and it will help also.  If it contiues, call you Nut for other suggestions.  Potassium issues are nothing to play around with.

I had them for a couple years before surgery.  My doc suggested Magnesium Oxide, which helped a little, but not much.  I usually try to stretch my calf muscles before going to bed.  That helps as well.  Good luck to you!  And ROLL TIDE!

Calf muscles are more than likely potassium levels being low.

Could be a sign of dehydration too...tank up as much as you can. Regular exercise helps. Magnesium 400mg or higher at bedtime should help...magnesium is a smooth muscle relaxer, but is pretty worthless in low doses. Also will help with constipation issues.
