I would not go too crazy getting stuff before surgery.  My experience was that I did not like a lot of the things I did before like protien mixes/drinks.  If your surgeon gives you a list of acceptable foods buy a lttle bit of those.  Jello and popsicles (SF) are a must.

Protein shake samples, vitamins, tylenol, gas-x.  and fill your scripts for pain and nausea meds so those are waiting for you.

Chapstick!  And I second the SF popcicles.  I also had SF drink mixes (Kool-Aid, Crystal Light, etc) - it helped me get my water in.

Best wishes on your surgery and a quick recovery!

As Kelly pointed out, make sure your prescriptions for pain meds are
filled and that you have something for gas and constipation. Get small
amounts of the other stuff (protein powders and drinks, jello, soups etc.)
because you may find that you don't like them after surgery. I had trouble
with all the "sweet" stuff..it seems to be pretty common. You may find
that a chicken broth or strained chicken noodle soup is very welcome
during your liquid phase.  Good luck!
