Pregnancy after WLS
I have tried for years to get pregnant and have been to so many specialist they all had the same diagnosis. stress, nicotine and obesity and although the test showed no pcos they all agreed that I probably still have pcos. they told me to lose weight and quit cigarettes etc. I quit smoking 6 years ago and now losing weight thru wls. I know for my safety and the baby's I can't get pregnant for 18 months -24 months after surgery. But I just want to hear some good news that just maybe, just maybe I will too become pregnant after I wait the time needed. Can anyone give me any encouragment or suggestions on what I should do now to prepare for tests, vitamins, bouncing up and down, wishing upon a star. I was on clomid prior and nothing
and I have a period 1 a year. I just got my period this week for the first time in more then a year.

Just work on being as healthy as possible. Take your vitamins every day, get a complete set of labs done every six months (or more the first year), adjust your labs accordingly, get a copy of the lab report so you can see the numbers for yourself, etc. Exercise regularly. If you have emotional issues surrounded food and weight loss, get some therapy. The healthier you are, the better your chances of getting pregnant and the better your chances of having a healthy pregnancy, safe delivery and healthy baby.
Think of this time kind of like the six month diet before WLS. Use it to work on getting healthier, to learn as much as you can about childbirth and just getting ready for what's to come. And that 18 to 24 months will likely go by in a flash.

Girl hang in there...I've had PCOS since I was 14, and for the first time in almost 10 years, my PCOS is "gone." Meaning all my hormone levels are in perfectly good balance, and other symptoms are starting to go away like my "dirty" neck, the acne has backed off, and I only have to wax my goatee (ladies w/PCOS you know what I'm talking about) once a month instead of once a week. This was at 9 weeks out. My endocrinologist said that based on my hormone levels she could not diagnose me w/PCOS at this time.
I tried with my ex to get pregnant for 5 years, when I was much younger and much less overweight, and had nothing but chemical pregnancies & a couple miscarriages. My husband and I had 2 chemical pregnancies and 2 miscarriages since May of 2010. In April 2011 I went on the pill so as NOT to get pregnant since I knew I would soon be eligible for WLS.
It's gonna happen later than I wanted it to, but I'm almost certain we'll be able to conceive and carry when the time comes. As bad as I want to be pregnant, the thought actually terrifies us right now, so I take the pill, we use condoms, and spermicide!
It'll happen for you, too. Getting healthy so we can have a comfortable, active, and hopefully enjoyable pregnancy is top priority!
