Reducing Stomach Acid

Had surgery on 12/13 and home since yesterday.  Looking of an OTC remedy a Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass patient can stomach...heh heh.  Doctor recommendations are nowhere to be found! 

 My surgeon is sending me home on prevacid which is standard protocol for his office.  Hope that helps. 

I got sent home with a 3 month prescription for Pepcid...

I was sent home with a prescription for Pepcid AC 20 milligrams Twice a day........It works great!

I also received a prescription for prevacid from my doc. It didn't work well so I was switched to Protonix which works like a dream. If you are having trouble, I really recommend you communicate with your surgeon and even specifically ASK for a PPI.

I was on omeprazole prior to surgery for severe GERD.  I was kept on it 6 months postop.  I'm so grateful that the surgery cured me.

Thanks everyone for the replies!  I am seeing my doctor for my first post op visit this Thursday and will be cornering him on the reflux treatment.
