Can someone please tell me what all do you have to keep track of after the surgery? Are these on the list?

Vitamins
Calories
Carbs
Fiber
Sodium
Fat
Sugar
Sugar Alcohol ( and where do you find that on the food you eat?

Is there anything else I need to be aware of? I want to start tracking all I need to now to get into the habit even though surgery is probably 6-8 months away
(dam* insurance company-lol ).

Thank you for any information you can give me.

 Early out I wouldn't worry/keep track of fiber,sodium,calories,or fat.
It's mostly about fluids, vitamins, and protein grams. Believe me..that's enough!

I keep track of my daily protein intake and use a checklist I created to make sure I get all the vitamins, minerals, and meds that my doctor ordered.

I know you're talking specifically about vitamins and nutrients, but I wanted to put in a word about tracking your measurements. I forget to note my starting measurements and have often wished I had those numbers so it's not all about the scale.

Wow!  I don't track those now at 7.5 years out!  I track protein, calories and vitamins - that's it!

The only things you need to concern yourself with for at least 6 months is grams of protein, ozs of water and that you are taking your vitamins - everything else should take care of itself unless you indulge in other food groups rather than getting your protein in!!!!

I notice that honeymooners now seem to track calories from early out - I didn't until I was about 4-5 years out and had to keep more of an eye on it to make sure I didn't add any extra pounds.

All I track now is calories and protein grams, when I track.

Immediately after surgery I just counted ounces of fluid and grams of protein.

I do pay attention to how much sugar is in something and don't eat it if it's high in sugar, but I don't keep track of how many grams of sugar I eat in a day or anything like that.

I don't count any of those other things.  You'll find the sugar alcohols listed under the cabs on the food label, close to where it lists grams of sugar.

I make sure I take my vitamins every day but I don't write down what I take, if that's what you mean by keeping track.

I use fitday.com.  It's free and you can log all of your food, activities, weight and you can also journal, which I love to do.  Give it a try.

Oh wow--I guess I forgot the protein thing. I've been reading a lot of posts here and it just seems like everyone is keeping track of so much I just wanted to make sure I would keep on top of everything as well Have to admit the whole vitamin thing just scares the bejeebers out of me-- I'm lucky if I remember to take my Centrum Silver once a day and as far as the other things I can't even balance my checkbook WITH a calculator so keeping a running total of ounces of liquids, proteins and fiber is going to be a real challenge. That's why I' wanted to get a "running" start on it.

Thank you everyone for your answers.

I just keep track of calories, protein, carbs (carbs is recent - and they're still not making sense). In the begining I just tried to keep track of protein and fluid intake.

I "keep track" of my water intake by filling up two 32-oz water bottles each night before I go to bed.  I use tha****er for drinking, preparing shakes, etc. It The bottles let me easily see how much water I need to finish before the end of the day.
