New Here and Overwhelmed

Hi,
I am just beginning this whole process and am in my first month of the monitored 6 month diet and exercise requirement. All of this talking about my weight, eating habits, exercise, etc.... has become so overwhelming emotionally. I can't stand being so heavy anymore and won't quit, but I feel so depressed and I am not normally like that. I am also very fearful that I am going to go through all of this work and money and then be denied surgery. Any suggestions?

Thank you
I am feeling a little better. I guess I just need to try and stay positive.

Find a good therapist. This can be a very stressful process and it will probably get harder after you have surgery. Therapy was so helpful to me, and is to many of us.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I too was overwhelmed. There was so much to learn and so much I did not understand. I too was concerned I would be denied. I had not been to a doctor in years, other than a theraapist, GYN years earlier and my retinal specialist, so I did not have the necessary documentation, etc... I did not believe I would be approved, people were not supportive (my family was and they are who mattered), and I was very discouraged the entire time I was going through the process. In spite of how I felt, I came to this site every day, read as much as possible to learn as much as possible and just walked it out one day at a time. I was going to get this surgery if it meant I had to self-pay. Your six months will pass before you know. Once you are approved, things move really quickly.

Thank you! I felt like you really understood and your post made me cry but I certainly feel better after relieving some tension.
You can do it. Focus on your goal a day at a time. Visualize your weight loss results. You will lose weight and inches as you proceed through your 6 month requirement. By the time you have surgery you will have a good head start. The more you lose the better you will feel afterwards and the easier it will be for your surgeon to do his job and that is extremely important. It is a win, win situation.
