another protein question (and water)

I just need some help from the pros out there. How on earth do you get all your protein in? I only have 2oz. at meals. I've been only having protein drinks and plain Greek yogurt with some baby fruit. I'm being very strict since I'm only a week out. So here's the thing, if a packet of protein powder mixed with 1% milk, roughly 10oz. has 25g of protein that's great. BUT if I have to split that shake into 5 of my meals then I am only getting 25g for the day. How do I get more? Also, I am having a real hard time drinking more than 20oz. of water in the day. I just feel like I'm too slow and there's no time. How do you guys do it? I need some tips. Thanks!

I do shakes as fluids and not meals.  If it takes you an hour to drink the shake then drink it, I wouldn't split it up over multiple meals.

I'm not there yet though. I'm still freshly healing. Even if I committed to the shake it would take me like 3 hours to fini**** I can handle the 2 oz. in a half hour but if I go too fast or if I have more I get super uncomfortable. I don't want to hurt my pouch.

You do not have to split your shakes into two ounce meals.  That's the amount you should eat of solid food.  Liquids run through your pouch so you can't stretch your pouch with liquids like you can with food.  Drink a couple shakes a day and eat a couple two ounce meals.

I'm on a strictly blended diet which consist of at least 2 protein drink meals until May 30th. I'm not supposed to have anything thicker than yogurt. If I have oatmeal I have to blend it. I decided just to stick to the shakes and yogurt for now. Should I worry about getting all the protein in when I advance in diet after the 30th? I thought it was pretty important to get it in now which is why I'm worried.

It is important now.  No, I would not wait a whole month to start trying to get enough protein in.

So drink two shakes a day and eat two ounces of yogurt a couple times a day.

I remember when I was a new post op and my first goal was drink 2oz every 10 minutes. I went by a timer until I was comfortable doing it more frequently.  So at 2oz every 10 minutes you should be able to get your 10oz shake down in about 1 hour.

If you can't drink 10oz in an hour then you need to worry more about dehydration than you do about protein and meals.

i agree with Paul. When I was 2 weeks out, they said a 8 ounce shake should take me between 45min to an hour to finish. i was to have multiple of those a day. if you are uncomfortable, try different temperatures, etc. i found ice cold worked best for me, and i blended with ice.
