how quickly did you lose weight???
RNY on 02/07/12
I am 3 1/2 months post op and have already lost 67 pounds. I know you will lose up the most weight in about a year and then some thereafter. Although I am so pleased with my weight loss so far ..I cant help being curious/concerned. Is this a normal weight loss for someone who is 5' 1" and my original weight was 247. I lost 10 pounds pre op so on the day of my surgery i weighed 237. My ideal weight would be 125-130. so if i go by the 130 that leaves me only 50 more pounds to go. I hear the weight lost starts to slow down and although i dont want it to i was wondering when does that happen. I was thinking if i lost 67lbs in 3 1/2 months and there is no slowing down in site will i end up losing too much weight?
Any info will be greatly appreciated
and one last thing...Believe me .. i am NOT complaining about losing weight.. I AM LOVING IT.
Thanks in advance
Julie

Sounds to me like you're doing incredible. My weight loss wasn't nearly as fast, but did slow down about the 9 month mark, and then I only lost an additional 10 or so in year 2.
You may end up a little thinner than you like, but I would encourage you NOT to intentionally gain weight. It seems to me that many people who post about intentionally gaining end up with too much re-gain.
I ended up thinner than I anticipated.... but I never considered myself to be smaller boned or petite.

Thank You for the info. I really am happy with my loss so far.. im just afraid to lose too much. I dont want to be too thin. when i was 17 i weighed 110-115 and was happy with myself back then..but as i look at old pics i dont think i would want to be that thin again.
and dont worry i wont gain weight intentionally...im afraid i would gain too much like you say. I guess i would rather be a bit thinner than to gain weight back.

Hmmmm.... count your blessings I say. I lost 15 pounds presurgery, from 270 to 255. Four and a half weeks after surgery I'm down only another 20 pounds....barely. I've got a feeling I'm gonna be a slow loser....far tougher, I think, to keep up the motivation than losing swiftly.
