How many meals daily?

My surgeon says: eat 3 meals daily-Period. One of those meals should be a protein drink of some sort for the next month. After that three protein rich meals daily.  No snacking, no grazing. I'm not asking about liquid or vitamins here only meals.

How do you lose weight if you eat all day long.  I see some peeps that list:
Breakfast
Snack
Lunch
Snack
Dinner
Snack

I'm not being judgemental at all:) I am just very curious. I will of course follow my surgeon's orders, but I am just wondering.

I do 5 or 6 small meals a day, totaling 600 to 700 calories a day.

My Surgeon also says 3 meals a day period and often wondered the same thing pre surgery. I find that 3 meals a day is fine for me MOST days but I have had a couple of "hungry" days where I fit in a small snack of protein to curb the hunger.

All surgeons recommend differently. Mine said 6 small meals a day, protein first.

They're small and noncarb or very low carb, nonfat or very low fat.

I eat the six "meals" that you discuss.  I'm really active, and can't get in enough protein without eating that many times a day.  I have mostly protein, and a little carbs at each "meal" with a limit of about a cup of food at any one time. 

In my case, I'm 10 months out, still losing slowly, and about 5 lbs from being underweight.  It's important that I eat that often to keep from getting protein deficient (again), slow the weight loss down, and to prevent hypoglycemia episodes. 

Just remember that each person is different in their journey.

I realize all people are different which is why I said, "i'm not judging:) Just being curious"  I may end up having to change to six times a day, who knows what the future holds. If questions aren't asked then how does one become educated?

We are all different.  I can't eat enough at meals to get in enough calories or protein so I eat throughout the day.  I also will get low blood sugar if I don't eat regularly.  If I only ate 3 deals a day I would be in big trouble.  Before WLS when I had a normal size stomach I would only eat 3 meals a day with nothing in between but that wouldn't work for me right now.
