It's due to ketosis.  when you start eating more carbs, it will go away.  But it's really a good thing because it means you're burning lots of fat.

Try brushing your teetth more often.  Also there may be some types of mouthwash you could use.  Alcohol free would be your best bet.  Not sure how far out you are but depending on your plan you might b able to suck on some sugar free mints..

I use Listerine Breath Strips when I'm out and about.

Biotene makes Dry Mouth mouthwash and gel in a tube. Tube = in the purse, rub around mouth when out and about, and Mouthwash = home, after every meal/snack.  It helps, but they're right-- you're burning fat as we type! Lucky! Don't ever chew gum again. I miss gum sooo bad.
I count protein, fluid ounces, and my blessings everyday.

That Biotene gel is weird stuff.  For a while I was on a medication that made my mouth so dry I got sores in my mouth and on my tongue, so I bought some of that.  It worked OK, I guess, but it felt really weird.  Like putting lotion in your mouth or something.  By the way, they used to have a coupon for $1 off on their website, so if anyone wants to try it, check for the coupon first.

Why do you recommend not chewing gum?

Congratulatonshe breath on your surgery.  You you should be set now.  I have used the breath strips and they work well.  I did find though that they are strong.

Fortunately for the breath issue, ke4tosis doesn't last forever so you will not have this problem indefinitely.
