Ok, so I had my surgery on Monday.  It was rough at first, but I'm home now and feeling better.  My question is, I'm very tired.  I had a great nights sleep.  Got up and had my protein shake... but I feel like I'm ready for a nap.  Is this normal?  should I be sleeping this much?

Thank you!!!!

Just had my RNY on 7.2.12!!!!  WOOHOO!!!!!

you just had major surgery and the anesthesia is not completely out of your system I'd say this is perfectly normal.

You've just had major surgery, plus you aren't getting much in the way of nutrients/calories. So it would stand to reason you would be tired. Do all of the things you're supposed to do (hydrate, walk, etc.), but be kind to yourself. Take a nap if you need to. It will get better. Take care!

I am now two weeks post-op. I slept off and on the whole first week. Even now after taking my daily walk I want to lay down. If you are tired, nap, your body needs it.

Very normal.  The anesthesia is not all out of your system yet, and if you're on pain meds, they make you tired.  Your body needs extra sleep to heal itself.  Also, I'm assuming you're getting far fewer calories than your body is used to and that will make you tired.

the best thing to do is rest as much as you can, get up and walk a little and have something to drink or some protein, and then rest some more if you're tired.
