Starting to think stomach pain is normal

Hi Everyone....

As you may recall, I was in the hospital last month for horrible abdominal pain.  After a CT
scan, they found a seroma near the incision closest to my belly button.  My surgeon drained
it and I was getting back to normal.

Now, starting yesterday, my stomach is hurting again.  It's not associated with any type of
eating or drinking.  It just hurts when I walk or stand up from a seated position.  It's getting to
the point that I feel depressed....like is this what life is going to be like forever?  Will I have to
live with stomach pain the rest of my life?  I hope not.  I'd rather be fat than in pain for the rest
of my life.

*Sigh*  I sure hope this is not the case.  =(

I don't think that is normal Hollie. I don't think you had an open RNY so where they went in should not hurt now. You should not have to put up with that. Go to your PCP or surgeon and demand to have them tell you why you are in pain. You are doing a great job on your part, have them do their part and help you.

I have never had a day's pain since I was discharged from the hospital - this is NOT normal and you need to get it checked out Hollie!

I agree with Larry. One thing  my surgeon's office staff (including my surgeon) told me repeatedly is that intense pain after surgery is not normal and that being in pain especially more than a few days after surgery could be a sign of something wrong. You shouldnt have to live like this. Call them and get some answers. I hope you feel better soon and have a support person who can help you make difficult phone calls. It can be hard to be demanding when you feel weak or in pain.

Pain is not normal and you should not accept it as such.  Get back to the doctor and see what's going on!

Hollie,
This is not normal. Sometimes we just get depressed and give up trying to find the answers and soon our lifestyle changes because of the pain we are ignoring ( have done this with my knees and hip) and we get used to working around the pain
Please call your surgeon !! my daughter let pain go for several months and she "got used to it" starting thinking it was normal and it almost cost her her life. I AM NOT saying this is going to happen to you , but YOU have to take care of yourself , because nobody else will.
Good luck !!1

Thank you, everyone, for the responses.  I'm going to call my surgeon.  I'm guessing the
seroma may be filling back up, but better safe than sorry.  Thank you!!
