Food size bites question

I am 3 weeks out today. I'm finding at times when I'm really not paying attention to my eating style, that I can take bigger bites (than I think I should be able to) and be ok w that. Like maybe a spoon full of cottage cheese or chili. And I'm also not quite sure about how long I should be waiting in between bites. I guess I'm doing it right, as I have had no problems as of yet. But w the bigger bites, is that ok, normal or am I really doing something wrong?
   Thanks for the help.

Count to thirty with each bite, spend 30 minutes for your meal. It is easy to eat too fast so cut everything up into really small bites and take the time to eat without feeling rushed. If I am rushed I tend to eat too much and throw up afterwards.

See that's what scares me. Not that I do this on purpose cause I dont. I am just not paying attention sometimes and just catch myself doing that. The bigger more frequent bites. It takes me 10-15 mins to eat 1/2 cp of cottage cheese or chili. But I don't get any kinds of sick or anything from that. I tolerate it well. And that is freaky cause of everyone else's stories on here. Am I just different but ok or just screwing up?

i'm a month shy of 2 years out and i take the same size bites and chew the same amount as i did pre-op. i've never had a problem from eating too fast, getting food stuck, etc. i really think it's a person to person thing and there won't be any one size fits all answer.

I think you're fine. I'm pretty much the same way and we had surgery right about the same time. I don't have a problem getting the food down and have noticed my bites are getting bigger. I've been using baby spoons to help my bite size.

Properly chewing the food in whatever size bite you take, and eating slowly enough that you can recognize when you are full  is more important than the bite size itself.  I was taking normal sized bites just a couple of weeks after surgery with no problems whatsoever.

I could take bigger bites of softer foods like cottage cheese and such. But when I went to solid food like meat, I had to take small bites, about the size of my little fingernail on my hand. I must chew chew chew. If I don’t I throw it up. Your pouch has a way of regulating you. Last night I had 2.5oz of chicken in a with some vegetables. I cut the chicken up and it went down fine, but I ate the vegetables to fast with too big a bites and over filled my pouch and I lost it all.

If it fits in my mouth the bite wasn't to big!

Now I may end up chewing for 5+ minutes and taking 30-60 minutes to eat.
