pureed foods
Hi everyone, I have a quick question. I am still in the planning stages of my surgery. I go for my first consult with my surgeon on Oct 12th :) I am trying to get things together as quickly as I can. My questions is did everyone go out and buy a food processor for their pureed foods? I don't have one and probably will eat a lot of actual baby food on my pureed phase just because of my schedule and it will be easier for me. I don't want to purchase one just for this and never use it again. I'm not much of a cook. I like to mess around but that's bout it. thanks in advance everyone
i never pureed anything. i just ate things with that consistency. we were told to NOT eat babyfood actually.
i ate a lot of ricotta, cottage cheese, refried beans, chili, and the like. we were told it didn't have to be totally pureed, just really really soft, so i could have uber mashed up canned tuna, chicken, etc as well

Commercial baby food has very little nutritional value for a baby - I never fed mine the stuff. - so what would it hold for a fully grown adult???
It is so easy to just cook a normal portion of real food and then portion it out into little plastic boxes to take with you if you have such a busy schedule.
30 minutes of prep and cook time and you could have enough to last you the two weeks you'll be eating pureed food!!!!!

Don't go out and buy baby food yet. i went out and bought a weeks worth, figuring I would use that, but I am struggling so much with protein that I don't want to waste any bit of food that isn't chalked full of protein. If you decide at the time to have baby food you can buy it, but don't buy it ahead of time. I will be donating mine to the foodbank.

I just finished my pureed stage-I had planned in advance and bought some baby food that I thought would fit my plan, and did not eat any of it, except one container of apple sauce. I was able to do ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, refried beans, etc - and that all worked well- and NO BLENDER needed. I also would advise not to buy too much protein shake in advance - I bought 3 huge packs that I tasted before my surgery and liked, but after surgery - all 3 made me gag-what a waste. I ended up doing the Premier protein shake that you can buy from Costco and that is what sits best for me. Everyone is different, you will figure it out. OH is great resource, so please be sure to ask any and all of your questions. Good luck with everything!!
