Its more of an obnoxious dull ache and an occassional twinge. Is this normal?? If it persists I will call my surgeon Monday unless its normal.. thanks in advance..

I was in extreme pain 4 days after surgery and it lasted for about 10 days..(I couldnt stand straight up and would cry just to move) at one point I did call my surgeon and went to the ER for a scan to make sure nothing was twisted or wrong from surgery...

BUT since your pain it is a dull pain- it maybe a poo issue. Have you had a normal BM?   This is an extremely common issues with our surgeries.   if you havent had a BM try some Miralax in hot tea or milk of magnesium... It will make you go #2.

If you have had BMs then I would call your surgeon to rule out any complications from surgery.

I had this same pain for a few weeks after surgery.  Before I left the hospital the doctor's surgery coordinator visited with me and told me that it would be normal to have left side pain and not be able to lie on that side for awhile b/c the majority of the work was done on that side.  However, if you feel it's abnormal pain definitely call your surgeon!  Feel better soon!

I had a new pain like what you are describing at about the same time. I was flabbergasted because I had no post op problems! I called the surgeons office and they told me to try multiple Gas-X strips and if that didn't work in a couple of hours to call back. I was sure that it was NOT that!! Well, low and behold, the pain went away......

I'm NOT saying that this is what you have, but it is worth a try.

is it a new pain? or existing? I had left side pain from the moment I woke up until the 5 week mark. I even went into the er and had a scan done they found nothing. I woke up one day and it was just gone. If it is a new pain you are having after two weeks of nothing I would def. say call the doctor that's why they get paid.

Absolutely still had this pain. I am 1 month out and the dull ache is subsiding. Call your surgeon so you have peace of mind. You just had major surgery...it never hurts to be too cautious!

Thank you everyone. I have had the pain on the left side, it seemed to ease up until I did a lot more walking yesterday and bending more as I was helping carve a pumpkin. It seems to be gone today.. if it returns I will call the surgeon. Glad to know its normal. Thanks everyone.

That left side pain is due to incisions that go through the muscle wall. I had those twinges (enough to make me catch my breath) for up to 6 weeks post op.
