Birth control pills post rny?

I was having the same issues and went to see my gynecologist. She put me on Generess FE which is a chewable birth control pill. It's very small but because of my RNY she thought the chewable would be better. It tastes like mint. I just started it this month and I have to say that my cramps were MUCH more manageable than in the recent past. My doctor did not recommend the Depo shot because she said that one of the side effects is weight gain (as with most BC but she said it is less with the oral form versus the shot). As I am only 3 months out, she didn't want to have me take any steps backwards as I'm trying to move forward. Best of luck to you!

I had the Essure procedure, but I am done having children.
I would highly recommend the Mirena. You do not have to think about it. It is very easily removed when you decide to get pregnant. It lasts for five years. I wanted something permanent and it was time for mine to come out anyway.
Best of luck.
I was on the generic Seasonale both pre-op & postop. Preop, was blissfully light period (3days max) and no cramps. With the weight loss, cramps came back on with a vengance. So it wasn't the BCP that kept my cramps away, it was the obesity! Since I was also fearful of pregnancy and hated using condoms *** kinda un-fun), I opted for Mirena at 6 months postop. NO periods and NO cramps since insertion! And was actually covered by my insurance! (which surprisingly wouldn't cover my husband's vasectomy but had plenty of options for invasive procedures for women. go figure.)
