Peeling fingernails ???

I am almost 2 years out from surgery.
My fingernails have always been long and strong.......one of my pride and joys.....always had people asking if they were real or artificial.
About 4 months ago, my nails started peeling ( not splitting or breaking ) but peeling off in layers. Is this something that others have experienced? Is my diet lacking in something ? I plan to ask my dr. About this on my next visit, but thought I would ask here first.

I have heard that vertical ridges, as well as peeling nails can happen from both a protein and a vit b def. Is that possible for you?

What's your vitamin A level?

I haven't had blood work done since June....will look that up when I get home. I have more blood work done in December. I will let you know. Thanks Kelly.

I am 3 months out and my fingernails have been doing this (toe nails brittle) for about a month now. I figured it was due to rapid weight loss combined with my using hand sanitizer a lot (I work in healthcare AND have had a cold for several weeks).
Had my 3month follow uptoday and all my labs are good... got the printout and reviewed them my self.
Hope you find a solution.
