Newbie Question- Pre-Op Testing - Blood Levels

Hi. I'm new here. My surgery is on Wednesday.  I'm so nervous that it cold be canceled. I've jumped though so many hoops.

Can surgery be postponed for anemia? My pre op labs just came back and some of my numbers on my CBC W/O DIFF are right below or just above normal! I'm a bit disappointed and afraid that they'll cancel my surgery. Isn't this something my pcp should have noticed? :( any thoughts on this? I'm posted to help ease my mind at least. My hospital posts labs online so that you can see them and they aren't open right now. Can some one help with this one?

Here are my numbers below:

WHITE BLOOD COUNT 5.5 10^3/uL [4.8-10.8]
RED BLOOD COUNT *5.63 10^6/uL [4.20-5.40]
HEMOGLOBIN 14.3 g/DL [12.0-16.0]
HEMATOCRIT 43.7 % [37.0-47.0]
MEAN CELL VOLUME *77.6 fl [80.0-94.0]
MEAN CORPUSCULAR HEMOGLOBIN *25.4 pg [27.0-31.0]
MEAN CORPUSCULAR HGB CONC 32.7 g/dl [31.0-35.0]
RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH 12.6 % [11.5-14.5]
PLATELET COUNT 280 10^3/uL [150-400]

Thanks in advance for responding.

Nothing is seriously low, so unless they suspect something underlying that is causing the lowered numbers, they are unlikely to cancel your surgery.

The range they list on labs is just a reference range (think of it as an average), rather than a "normal" range, so just because you are not quite within the range doesn't mean something is wrong. Once you have surgery, though, you will want to keep the vitamin levels in the upper portion of the range because our vitamin levels can plummet VERY quickly and if your levels are on the low side to begin with, w
You can end up with medical issues from the deficiency. If you keep them on the high side, on the other hand, you can drop and still be in the reference range and not be deficient.

Thanks so much, Lora! I really appreciate it. You've put me at ease! I'm so excited for a chance to start over so to speak. :) Thanks again.

It depends on the surgeon as to what they are specifically looking for on pre-op blood work.  As a former lab tech and a med student (take that with a grain of salt LOL) nothing looks crazy on your blood work.  You should be just fine!  Don't fret sunshine :)

Well, I have to be at the hospital at 11:30am. My surgery is scheduled for 1:30pm tomorrow! I'm so excited and nervous. This headache is something else today.

I'm glad the lab wasn't an issue.
