marginal ulcer

Hi i need some help kind of confused...had pain for over a year and new doctor found I have a marginal ulcer, so for 5 months now I have been taken Carafate and Protonix and still in alot of pain, doctor said that there was 2 stitches that were just hanging there or come undone and that he would most likely have to go back in and take them out? Now I was kind of shocked so I never thought of asking how was he taken them out...does he mean doing it through an Endoscope or laproscopy? Has anyone had this happen?
