Fancy restaurant with few OK choices

Difficult night trIng to find what I could eat tonight.  Only 8 weeks post and had not tried beef yet.  People ordered for the table:  oysters on the half shell, well chewed went down fine, beef with garlic, difficult to digest, scallops were delicious but no room left, finally a Hugh cloud of warm raspberry cotton candy delivered to the table with French press coffee.  I sampled a little bit and did well, but had to pay my share of such an expensive meal when I only ate 1/4 th of what others had.

If it was a fancy restaurant, you can always order just an appetizer or soup.  If anyone asks, say that you are not feeling hungry.  Since you and your table mates ordered together then yes you needed to split the bill.  I usually order a meal for myself and take home the leftovers for probably two more meals.....if you are in USA, then probably enough for 5 more meals.

Now you know not to order along with a group because it isn't worth the expense.  Neither is eating at a buffet as you cannot take home leftovers.  I still go to buffets if others are going though.  It is the social aspect that I am there for.

That dinner sounds yummy!

Going out to eat is difficult at first because you can't eat much and the food is expensive. I have learned to see going out to eat as an "experience" rather than a meal. It is easier for me to see it that way. So in other words, you get to enjoy the company, the restaurant, and enjoy the evening out. The food is second to all of that.

We had friends in from out of town over the holidays and they wanted to go out to one of the Casino's here that does a Friday night seafood Buffett. They are out of town guests and I wanted to make them happy! But,  two problems: I hate buffets, and it's expensive 35.00 each to eat at a buffet that has really average tasting food.

But I looked at it as an opportunity to hang out with my friends, and enjoy the social aspect of the situation. Because the two crab legs and 6 peel and eat shrimp I had, was defiantly not worth it, but the time I spent with them and our other friends that came with us was priceless.

I had the same experience with friends wanting to go to a buffet. I was fortunate that I have a card showing that I had surgery, so they only charged me the price of a 9 year old. Still funny because I only ate about as much as my 3 year old. But I still enjoyed being there with them.

I believe in me...the best is yet to be!
