OT How we live
Is the anyone here my friends who loves Downton Abby as much as my wife and I do? I know it is a fictional story abut some aristocratic English people and their home, but wouldn’t it be nice if we could all have the same kind of civility in our own homes. In our home we do our best. We don’t dress for dinner, (we are naked) but other than that and the embarrassment of the servants, it is about the same.

English TV at it's best! If you like this, you might enjoy Upstairs Downstairs - the forerunner of Downton Abbey - which also airs on PBS ...
I always dress for dinner - an English Lady knows not to scare the servants OR horses!!!!!
ETA: I had a live in maid when I lived in Singapore - weird to be called Ma'am (on which SHE insisted) but very easy to get used to

I do believe that you should at least where the bow tie. In the name of civility.
(And I love Downton Abby, too!)

I haven't seen it but I am starting a new series on BBC America called Ripper Street. It looks great. I also like Falty Towers.
And if you enjoy reading, check out the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt mysteries by Anne Perry, set in Victorian England. Entrancing.
