VSG on 06/13/12

Hi all, today my mom got the roux en y surgery. it was at 8am by 4pm she was complaining of hunger. I am not too familiar with this surgery; I was sleeved and have not felt hunger since? is this because her stomach is still intact?

help pls

I woke up from surgery hungry. I had hunger feelings until I left the hospital and started taking my PPI. As soon as I started taking that, no more hunger. I haven't felt hungry since. (Sometimes stomache acid mimics hunger feelings).

I haven't felt hungry since I had my surgery. Head hunger, yes. Real hunger, no. But every person is different. My guess is its head hunger for your mom. She knows she should be hungry.

I felt hunger the first week or so, off and on. Maybe it was head hunger, I don't know. It concerned me because everyone else was saying they have no hunger feelings. I am now out 12 weeks, and do not feel hunger.

If my head is not telling me I am hungry, where does it come from? I have had voices in my head all my life telling me I am hungry. My stomach has not said a word all these years.

thx everyone for the replies, I guess her recovery will be similar to mine. i personally did not feel hungry at all after surgery, she is adament that she wants to eat. It will be a long road.......
