I am currently drinking my two week pre-op for surgery on the 18th of feb. I have only lost 6 pounds and I am confused as to why. I am working out, I am logging in all foods/ liquids using MPF. The only reason I can think of is maybe I am not getting enough calories? I average about 1000 per day and mostly all sugar free or low sugar. What am I doing wrong?

6 lbs and still a week to go? Sounds like you are doing just fine to me!

I am afraid after seeing several people say they have lost 30 lbs on the pre- op and I am no where near that :). Hopefully it's just nerves. Thank you or the response.

I lost 15 lbs pre-op. I don't think many people lose 30 lbs in two weeks, from what I've seen. Hang in there - follow the rules and you will be just fine.

How long have you been on the pre-op diet?  Based on you saying it is a two-week diet and that you are having surgery on the 18th, I assume it has only been a week.  How much weight do you expect to lose in a week (even after surgery)??

It takes a caloric of about 3500 calories to lose a single pound.  How much you currently weight and how active you are determines how many calories you burn a day, but if you are very sedentary and weigh about 250 pounds, you might burn about 2500 calories per day.  If you eat 1000 calories, that gives you a caloric deficit of 1500 calories per day which is 10,500 per week, which would be a loss of about 3 pounds in a week.  If you weigh 300 pounds, you might have a caloric deficit of 2000 per day, but that would still be only 4 pounds in a week.  It is important to go into surgery with realistic expectations of the rate at which you will lose the weight.

I started at 280 pounds and had to do 3 weeks of shakes. I lost 15 pounds total. I'd say you're fine.

Thanks ladies! I have been focused on my new life change that will soon be taking place. I am super excited to make this change. I was just terrified maybe I have been do something wrong. I know my calories intake is around 1000 per day and may be less n some days. So maybe that is part of my issue.

I was told to focus more on protein in over calories.
