Hey All,  What am I missing and how do I get it....for the last 3 weeks I have been experiencing leg cramps in the wee hours of the morning.  They seem to be getting worse and worse.  Sometimes so bad I have to get out of bed to walk them off.

So what am I not getting enough of???  Water...Potassium....what???

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Try tonic water with quinine.

Low levels of potassium and magnesium can both cause muscle cramping, as can mild dehydration. I believe low calcium can also contribute to them.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Leg cramps will be caused from not enough water, potassium,  and magnesium.  If I don't get 120 oz of water daily...I get  leg cramps.  I've been using  Quinine tablets with great results.  I get it at The Vitamin Shoppe..  They dissolve under your tongue...like the B12 sublingual.  I usually get relief from the cramps in just a few seconds after taking one. I don't have to take them too often...I usually get enough water to prevent the cramps from happening.

And don't point your toes, get up immediately and walk. Hard to do when you've had such a rude awakening. I feel your pain.

Tonic water helps me. And stretching my calf muscles by standing on a step and letting my heels drop slowly. Stretches them out a little bit and it feels good.

I agree with many of the posters that it may be hydration, potassium, calcium, etc.
It may also be your body adjusting to your posture changes and stresses to different muscles as your weight changes.I noticed my posture and the way I stand has shifted.... ever do subtly... which places very different strains on muscles...

Try magnesium before bed!
