Energy Level
Hello everyone. My surgery was March 20th and I can't seem to get my energy back. I have lost 32 lbs, so far and in that regard I feel great. However, it is hard to get up in the morning, and I feel drained all day. I am going back to work on Monday and I'm really worried. Is this normal? And if so, how long will it be before I get some energy? Thanks.
I eat 4 oz of food 3 x day that consists mostly of either yogurt, cottage cheese, refried beans, or soup. 2 x day I have a snack of sugar free pudding. I try to drink as much water as I can get down in between. Calorie intake is probably less than 500 a day. I know I should drink 60+ oz of liquid but can't get it all in. And probably don't even come close. The weight loss is great but feeling tired all the time is taking a toll. Kinda bittersweet. :)
Check with your nutritionist on how many kcal she wants you approximating - 500 sounds pretty darn low, which along with a protein deficit is likely contributing to your feeling tired. Not saying I've been doing spectacularly better (working on it), but at least I know what to blame the tiredness on!
500 seems REALLY low. I have about 500 with just my two protein shakes in between meals. Plus I have my 3 meals. I really don't keep track of my calories very well, mostly just portion sizes. I think you will find your energy picking up and perhaps that could lead to more rapid weight loss as well. That's a "may" lead to not a guarantee.

Very normal. I was exhausted until about month 6. Hang in there!!
