Feel sick after drinking water

on 5/18/13 8:13 am - NJ
Sometime when I drink water I get a very sick feeling..nauseous as heck! This usually happens if I drink it when I haven't eaten for a few hours.. Anybody else experience this? I'm trying really hard to get enough water but I can only take really small sips! I appreciate your responses.

I get the same thing. Would like to see what others have to say.

I get the same thing, no matter what temp the water is. Just drink it with something added. lemon, crystal light etc.

RNY Surgery was on 4/12/2013. Now currently on the Never hungry ever bench

Someone said earlier that dehydration can cause nausea.

I'm about 10months post op and I still have a problem with plain water. I do fine if it has something in it... Mio, Crystal light, lemon, etc.

I'm a year out and only recently have been able to drink plain water.  I spoke to my surgeon about it awhile back and he said alot of people suffer from that.  I still prefer having something in the water though. It will get better.  Best of luck to you.

Taking it one day at a time.

I'm 21 months out and I still have an issue with plain water, especially at room temp. I get really nauseous and have to have it either very warm (i can guzzle that w/out any problems) or icy cold on a very hot day. Even as far out as I am, I still struggle getting 64oz in. Good luck to you, hope your issue w/water resolves sooner than i've been experiencing.

Are you on any kind of meds for stomach acid like pepcid?  Early out, if I missed a dose of that drinking water would make me feel nauseous.  Drinking protein shakes (or milk, something that is more 'base') would help.

No I'm not on any meds for stomach. I drink protein drinks but sometimes I get so thirsty only water will quench.

I had surgery Aug. 27, 2012 and I havent been able to drink water since. Even the flavored waters feel like lead inside my pouch. I can drink tea and coffee strangely enough but I usually stick to sugar free chocolate milk.
