Is this virtual panhandling normal for this site?
And two weeks prior is not the time to start saving for an event I am assuming you've known about for more than two weeks if you do not have funds for such expenditures normally. Why not ask your sister or your parents to fund this instead of people on the internet? And as for lodging, are you not able to stay with family?
This just doesn't seem very appropriate to me.

There's a history on this site of scammers - one "cancer" victim was legendary and she scammed THOUSANDS of dollars out of OH'ers. There was a sting, police chase, court and jail involved ... She'd even shaved her head!!!
Every so often someone comes on here with a sob story - particularly at Christmas and it's best if we just report them.

Hi guys. I do apologize for coming off tacky. That definitely wasn't the purpose. I have been a member of this site since 2004, and I have never asked for money...or virtually panhandled (that was a good one! :) lol) .
Of course I knew about it ahead of time. We were supposed to stay with my mom and she was going to help us out.
Unfortunately she just told me yesterday that if my wife was going to go with us that I could forget about her helping.
So, I thought it a good idea to try to get help a different way. I am also selling things on Ebay and trying to save my piddly child support.
It's hard when you are a full time college student with three kids to afford anything financially out of the ordinary.
Again accept my apology. Tacky wasn't the intention. I have removed the link. I had no idea I would get the response I did.
