24 Hours Post-Op and feeling wonderful!

so I've just passed the 24-hour  mark from surgery - all was smooth and uneventful. Only minimal pain, and that't from gas. Just had the barium swallow test (yum) and no leaks! Havent' been able to drink anything (not even have ice chips to suck on) since 11 pm Sunday, so when they just brought me water & broth, I almost jumped up and down!

So grateful to the postings on this forum that helped me

A) make the right decision (RNY vs. LB)

B) know what to expect - what to take to the hospital - how I would feel

C) offering moral & cheerleading support!

I'm convinced that the more you know, especially first-hand from people who've been there/done that - the better you will progress. That mixed with prayer, guided imagery, and following RULES are keys to how good I feel, I think. Several of the nurses that I've encountered today in various places can't believe how good I look, and how well I am reporting to have gotten along. Thanks to you all for sharing your personal experiences and advice - even though we're all "strangers", I know you've played an important role in my life!

Glad that you are feeling so well! I went home at 23 hours and other than a rough morning on days 4 and 5, have not had pain or issues.

6 weeks out and feeling wonderful!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
